From Desk jockey to gym owner

I'm an electrical engineer (and now personal trainer) with big dreams of owning my own warehouse/athletic performance gym in Minneapolis, MN. I believe that anyone with any genetics can be transformed into an athlete. I love to make you laugh, but I hate hearing excuses. Work your ass off, get the results, have fun afterwards.

2009 Year in Review: Part 3

I saved Part 3 for last because it is filled with the best stuff. This stuff is also kind of slightly controversial, but I’m not sure how you can argue against the examples I give. Also, remember Part 2? Remember the part where I said that writing is work? Yeah, tonight is definitely one of those nights. Only got a little sleep on Sunday (watching the Vikings do what they do best: suck p3n1s for coke), only slightly more on Monday night, and very little last night. Apparently 3 cups of coffee at 6:00pm is a bit excessive. Whoops!

Anyways, enough b*tching!

2009 Year in Review: Part 2

Continuting with last night’s awesomeness, here’s Part 2 of things I learned in 2009. Actually, these are things I’ve known, but now I ‘know’. Get it?

2009 Year in Review: Part 1

Soooo…..I’m a couple weeks late. So what?! Well, here is a few key things that I learned in 2009. I guess some things were learned, some things were reinforced, and some things I knew but I just didn’t know I knew it. This was originally supposed to be one post long, but after I copied it into WordPress and saw that the word count was over 2,000 words, I decided that I should probably split it up into a couple different posts…3 to be exact. So, lucky for all of you, you will have 3 consecutive days of reading my masterpieces. Right? RIGHT?!?!

Defining the Power Clean

If there’s one thing that I can’t stand, it’s arguing minutiae. (For those less educated, that means the precise details of a bigger idea.) As much as I hate it, here I am arguing, erm, maybe, discussing (?) it on Twitter with a fellow aspiring strength and conditioning coach. We both know exactly what a clean and press is. I’m assuming (not always a safe bet with O-lifts, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt) we both know how to perform them properly. However, we are not agreeing on verbiage, and it’s something that annoys the hell out of me. Especially when people that “know” how to do them start talking about them incorrectly.

Asian Chicken Stir-Fry

I really f*ckin’ don’t feel like typing this right now. In fact, I’m willing to bet that no one from the state of WI is even gonna care that I’m writing anything much less a recipe. The Packers have once again, ripped out my heart, stomped on it, and then collectively took a piss on it. I mean, REALLY?! You lose the f*ckin game on a defensive touchdown?!?! UUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Why do You Train?

Two things of note:

1) I wanted to type an email to all of my subscribers, but apparently that plug-in (don’t worry, that’s geek speak you need not concern yourself with) doesn’t support the iPhone. What a bitch.

2) If you’re a subscriber (or hurry up and subscribe now; the little boxes on the right of the page), you’ll learn why I’ve been so “lazy” lately.

3) In the spirit of said “laziness”, I will attempt to entice all you lovely people to interact with me.

So, why do you train? Here’s a couple reasons I do:
