Give it to me

For the first time in almost a year (yes, I know someone out there has that written down…right?), I am taking a cop out. Not like, on a date or anything, I don’t want to be like my ex-gf (gross; I could say more, but I probably wouldn’t ever see my dog again). Anyways, life has me ran pretty ragged these days and I really don’t have much on my mind. I’m kind of in a zombie-like state: Wake up, eat, work (I actually am these days; scary!), eat, work, eat, train, eat, do something that takes up all my time, get 5 hours of sleep, and repeat.

So, here’s your chance ask me anything. It can be health and fitness related, how to train your new puppy, what color should you dye your hair (most likely black if you’re a chic….*drool*), or how I became this really friggin’ sweet dude. Hell, if you’re not in a question-like mood, hit me up with a story. Did you party too hard over Thanksgiving? Have sex for the first time (I’m still waiting for mine)? Anything?

  2. Derrick says:

    Do you honestly think i would make a good trainer? do i have potential once i learn some more?

  3. Pete Puma says:

    Is it true that the vagina of an Asian chick is horizontal?

  4. Dave says:

    @Erica

    Do you really expect me to call a pregnant woman fat? You’re outta your damn mind. Ask me that question 3 months after you’ve had the baby, then I’ll give you an answer.

  5. Dave says:

    @Derrick

    Of course, man. You’re inexperienced now, but if you’re heart is in it and you follow through with school like we’ve talked about, I have no doubt you’ll be a good trainer. Just stick with it, keep reading, get a tri under your belt, keep asking questions, and you’ll be good to go. Also, school. Did I say that already?

  6. Dave says:

    @Pete

    Bro. I can only vouch for 1 asian chic. It was normal, but I am more than willing to continue looking.

  7. Denise says:

    How long do you think it will take to lose the 41 pounds I gained this year?

  8. Dave says:

    @Denise

    Again. Pregnancy. C’mon! A lot will have to do with your genetics and how hard you’re willing to work at it. You CAN get back to your pre-pregnancy weight though. Don’t let yourself think that you can’t or you will never lose it.

    Show me your peen

  10. Dave says:

    @Lise

    Flattery will get you everywhere with me. Unfortunately, that is neither a question nor a story. Please re-phrase the statement, send me $50, and your inbox will be flooded.

  11. Vinny says:

    I’m huge, ripped and strong, but I’m tired of being huge. Seriously.

    What can I do in order to only remain ripped and strong?

  12. Dave says:

    @Vinny

    No shame December. Then 100 calories/day for the entire months of February and March.

    And for those that really want to know….

    I’m a fan of a modified/relaxed Paleo diet.

  13. Jil says:

    What do you think of clubs like LA Fitness, Lifetime or YMCA? Can I get a good workout there?

  14. Dave says:

    @Jil

    Hey, you’re still around. Good deal! I’ve written quite a bit on how I feel about franchise gyms. Personally, I think they suck monster ballz, but it is entirely an individualistic preference. Some people can get great workouts in at those gyms. I can’t. I also think *most* of their trainers are probably sub par. On the rare occasions I’ve gone to those gyms, I see them with healthy clients on machines rather than free weights and talking more about the facility and sales than on getting the client results.

    But hey, if you don’t mind the posers, gawkers, and Lady Gaga on the stereo and still make gains, by all means, go for it.

  15. Tim says:

    What core strengthening exercises would you recommend for someone with a hiatal hernia?

  16. Jil says:

    So where are these workouts for beginners? :)

  17. Wes says:

    Thinking about shaking the routine up a bit. What are your thoughts on SCT(static contraction training)? On paper it looks gold! However we all know the paper vs. reality trick.. preciate it!

  18. Dave says:

    @Tim

    I’ll be honest. Never really worked with anyone with a hiatal hernia. If your program focuses on large compound movements like squats, presses, and deads, your core should be plenty strong enough.

    I would focus on reducing your systems by losing weight and alleviating stress. Of course, I’m no doctor so I would also suggest a visit or follow-up with him if you haven’t already.

  19. Dave says:

    @Jil

    C’mon!! Can’t a guy be lazy?! Haha. Thanks for staying on me about it. If you’re waiting for this program to be released before you start working out, just email me some specific questions so you can at least get started. If you click on the “contact” link above, you can email me right from the site.

  20. Dave says:

    @Wes

    I’ve personally never messed around with isometrics (SCT). I guess it depends on your goals. Are you going for hypertrophy or strength? I believe SCT has its place within a “bodybuilding” routine as muscle growth has a lot to do with time under tension. However, if you’re training for strength gains, I’m not so sure SCT is the way to go. There are other ways to shake up a program and get the same results.

  21. Denise says:

    What do you think of the new “tone while you walk” shoes? As in avi-motion by Avia.

  22. Dave says:

    @Denise

    I think I would have to control myself from assaulting the person I see wearing them. For health purposes, shoes are the biggest scam on the planet. In my opinion, even “running’ shoes are bad for you….when running. Think there’s a reason why the Kenyans run barefoot their whole lives and then come over here and win marathons? Yes. It’s because the barefoot (regardless of arch height) is the most efficient way to transfer energy and the only way to give your ankle complete mobility.

    Since we can’t (nor would I suggest) go barefoot this day and age, I would recommend Vibram Five Fingers, Nike Free’s, or any other flat and flexible soled shoe.

  23. Derrick says:

    Dave, i also agree about shoes… they seem to cause injuries… maybe its because when you run barefoot, if your feet hurt then you stop running and its a sign to take a break…

    but the kenyans also run 200-300 miles a week vs 100-150 that “marathon” runners tend to run…
